Formerly, Robyn was vice president of finance for ParkLane Ventures Ltd., one of Canada's leading builders of high-quality, single family homes, and CEO and president of the $3.4 billion Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.

In 1992, the Financial Post named Robyn Allan one of Canada's top 200 CEOs. Business in Vancouver named her one of the 40-Under-40 top business performers in 1993. In 1995, she was appointed to the board of directors of Samoth Capital Corporation, a publicly traded financial services company operating throughout North America. She has also served on the boards of Ballet BC and the Vancouver Opera.

A regular contributor to Business in Vancouver, Robyn has had articles published on the topics of sustainable development, financial institution management, strategic planning, economics, social investment, and the environment. Her writing has appeared in Enterprise magazine, Credit Union Way, and the internationally circulated World Reporter, as well as for the Globe, Mail, and Financial Post newspapers.

For many years, Robyn has also maintained a parallel career in dance, producing, choreographing, and performing throughout Canada. In June 1997, her production Dance and Desire was successfully staged at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver and included 18 dancers and nine choreographers.
